Despite what many people think, being a European or American citizen or receiving a job offer from a Canadian company does not automatically grant you a work permit. However, some exceptions may apply.
Students admitted to a college, university and/or vocational training program are allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session and up to 40 hours per week during scheduled breaks. This does not include students enrolled in ESL or FSL programs. Additionally, permanent residents and Canadian citizens are allowed to work in Canada without restrictions.
WHO IS NOT ALLOWED TO WORK IN CANADA?
Europeans and Americans are not allowed to work in Canada based on their nationalities alone. They need to have a permit to legally work in this country. Also, since January 2015 students who are enrolled in language courses (ESL and FSL) are not allowed to legally work in Canada.
Prospective employees who have a job offer from a Canadian company must still have a positive LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment), otherwise it is not possible to receive a temporary work permit.
HOW TO REQUEST A WORK PERMIT?
In order to request a work permit, as a student or as part of the immigration process, you have to meet the legal requirements of the Canadian government. An immigration consultant will be able to analyze your case, verify your eligibility to work in Canada and manage your application process.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The processing times vary for each Canadian visa office and these times are subject to change in accordance with the number of applications received at any one time.

Since there are currently many available positions in the Canadian Labour Market and not enough people to fill them, hiring foreign workers is a common practice for Canadian companies. There are two processes that allow the companies to do this: Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) and Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
Both processes involve complex documentation and legal procedures that require great attention to detail and precision. We work as a legal representative for both companies and individuals. One Immigration is specialized and experienced in organizing and submitting PNP and LMIA applications. We take responsibility for every step of the foreign worker’s hiring process in a Canadian company. Our core values are for efficiency and effectiveness which are integral to our work and success. We can give you the chance to gain valuable foreign work experience and to live in this beautiful country.
There are different phases throughout the immigration process. They include the eligibility phase, immigration application, required documentation gathering, and all the legal procedures that are involved before the permanent residence visa is issued. Doing all of these phases on your own is a lot of work and also extremely risky, since a simple mistake can affect your chances of success. Therefore, the best option is to rely on the assistance of a Canadian immigration consultant to manage all the phases of your immigration application.
Once you hire One Immigration’s services to help you immigrate to Canada, we’ll be responsible for all the phases of your immigration process until you become a permanent resident of Canada. We’ll help you with the gathering of the required documents, we’ll assist you in filling out all the forms based on your documentation, and we strictly adhere to the deadlines of each step during the process. The good news is that instead of paying the total amount all at once, you pay for each phase of the work as it is done on your case. Additionally, the fee that you would have paid for your first immigration consultation will be deducted from the entire amount of your immigration process.
